Pregnancy announcement ideas for your husband or partner
Announcing a pregnancy to your husband or partner is the moment two of you become three (or four). It's typically the most private reveal you'll do — and the easiest to record, because the audience is one person and the camera setup is simple.
Telling your husband — the basics
You want a moment with no distractions, a way to deliver the news clearly, and a plan for capturing it. Most partners aren't expecting a camera, so either hide a phone propped up or use a doorbell-cam / nest-cam style recording so it doesn't look staged.
First-pregnancy ideas
When this is your first.
- The positive-test reveal — hand him the test wrapped in a small box
- The "Daddy" shirt or mug — give it as a gift, let him realize what it means
- The sonogram in a picture frame on the mantel
- The "guess what" dinner — let him guess; record his reaction
- The card-with-clues reveal — handwritten card with hints leading to the answer
Second-pregnancy ideas
When you already have a kid (or two).
- Have your existing child tell him — wear a "Big Brother / Big Sister" shirt
- A "Vote Now: Boy or Girl" poster on the fridge
- A second sonogram tucked into the family photo album
- A "Promotion to dad of two" mug
- A kid's drawing labeled "our family" with one more figure than usual
Capturing the reaction
For a private partner reveal, prop a phone on a shelf or use a small tripod. Frame for both your faces (or just his — yours is on the other side of the camera). Record for at least 30 seconds: his reaction usually has a delayed second wave when realization sinks in.
